When Bill purchased his home, the previous homeowners had converted the garage space into a living area, complete with two large sliding glass doors. While this modification might have suited their lifestyle, it didn't work for Bill, who needed a secure and functional garage space for his lifted truck. After assessing the site, and discussing the customers' needs with him, we recommended installing a 16x6'6" Garaga Regal garage door, featuring 2-inch thickness and a sturdy 24-gauge, non-insulated steel construction; with a 15 year manufacturer warranty. We selected the Classic Short Raised Panel design in white, which perfectly complements the aesthetic of homes throughout Desert Cove Manor and other Peoria neighborhoods. A key part of this project was maximizing the garage door opening height. The finished framed opening measured 6’4” — an already tight fit for Bill’s lifted truck, so we did not want to reduce the height at all! To accommodate, we installed a door composed of five 18-inch tall panels, totaling 90 inches or 6 feet 6 inches in height. Once the perimeter seal was installed, the usable opening was slightly reduced, but the extra effort allowed Bill to park his truck comfortably inside. Framing the opening down to a standard 7ft high garage door would not have worked for Bill's vehicle height. To ensure the new garage door's long-term durability and performance, we added an extra strut for additional strength — a small but crucial detail that reflects the high standards of workmanship at Swiftly Garage Doors. This project was a true team effort. Dean, our talented framer and handyman, and Justin, the owner of Swiftly Garage Doors, worked together seamlessly to complete the installation. Thanks to their skill and efficiency, we were able to finish the project in a single day, allowing Bill to secure his property and use his new garage space that very evening.
One of the major challenges on this garage door installation was the extremely tight headroom. With only 13 inches of headroom available, we had to carefully select and install standard 12-inch radius tracks to ensure smooth operation without compromising on space. Another aspect of this project was Bill’s choice to have us install a brand new belt drive Ryobi garage door operator that he had laying around from an old house (that he never got around to installing). A lot of garage door companies will not install a users store bought box system, but we have no problem with it, we even give a 1 year warranty on our workmanship for these type installs!
